Are you enjoying English Philosophical Texts Online?

We are currently putting together an application to the Leverhulme Trust for funding to complete this project. If you value this site and would like to see it grow, please consider sending one or two sentences of support (together with your name and institutional affiliation, if any) to amyas.merivale@philosophy.ox.ac.uk. With your permission, we would like to include these responses on this site and in our application.

Below is a list of 243 English-language philosophical texts published in Britain between 1650 and 1830, by 60 authors (48 male and 12 female). Our aim is to provide free and high-quality digital critical editions of all of the works on this list, alongside tools for performing sophisticated searches and comparative textual analyses. Note however that this project is still in the early stages. So far we have prepared 24 texts by Mary Astell, George Berkeley, David Hume, Francis Hutcheson, John Locke, Bernard Mandeville, John Norris, and Lord Shaftesbury [Anthony Ashley Cooper].
